The White River National Forest is located in central western Colorado, with the Aspen-Sopris Ranger District having four wilderness areas: Collegiate Peaks, Hunter Frying Pan, Maroon Bells-Snowmass, and Raggeds Wilderness Areas, the Maroon Bells Recreation Area, and unlimited year-round outdoor activities (mountaineering, mountain biking, snowmobiling, cross sountry skiing, snowshoeing, camping, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking).
