La rivière Yampa découle de la gamme Parc dans Routt Comté. Créé à partir de la confluence de la rivière Bear et Phillips craquement, près de la ville de Yampa. La longueur totale est de 400 kilomètres, le voyage de Yampa vallées de montagne élevée dans le haut désert de nord-ouest du Colorado. La rivière Yampa est la dernière grande rivière à écoulement libre dans le bassin de la rivière Colorado.
