La région du fleuve de San Miguel a pêche pour tout le monde comme sa marque de fabrique. Des lacs bien garnies, pour amorcer l’eau, cette rivière fait appel à tous les niveaux de compétence de pêche. Depuis les hauteurs du Nord de San Juan Mountains au-dessus de la ville de montagne de Telluride, la San Miguel coule 81 milles au nord-ouest, jusqu’à ce qu’il atteigne la rivière Dolores, près de la frontière de l’Utah. Ruissellement d’avril jusqu’à la fin juin, la rivière efface en juillet, avec la pêche principale de début juillet à mi-septembre.
