Today, Aspen consists of 5,300 acres between Snowmass, Aspen Mountain or Ajax Mountain, Aspen Highlands, and Buttermilk.

The resort is famous for it’s high average snow fall, averaging 480 inches in a season.

The Area sits at a base elevation of 10,300 feet, topping out at the summit of 11,904 feet. There are 77 trails, with the longest run being Navajo Trail of 2 miles in length.

Early in the development of the resort, the lifts were based in the current Mountain Village area, there were 5 lifts and skiers would shuttle up to the lifts from the town, take the lifts and ski back down into Telluride. In 1975, with the opening of the Coonskin Lift 7, skiers could take the lift from town to the other lifts father up the mountain.

Telluride currently has 15 lifts and 3 free gonlola’s providing transportation to 3 stations on the mountain.

In 1963, the second gondola constructed in Colorado was put into service at the base area. Today CB is known as one of the birthplaces of freestyle skiing, supporting revolutionary skiers such as Seth Morrison and FIS Alpine Ski World Cup and Winter Olympics athlete Wendy Fisher.
