The Lake Fork begins at Sloan Lake in the northern San Juan Mountains. The River is 64.7 miles in length flowing through Lake San Cristobal on it’s way to Blue Mesa Reservoir. Fishing on the Lake Fork is from Spring into Fall on this freestone river. Public fishing access from Lake City down to the Lake Fork inlet is 29 miles, with Brown and Rainbow Trout being the primary catch. There are special fishing regulations from the confluence with High Bridge Gulch downstream to the BLM boundary below The Gate Campground.
