The Pagosa Ranger District is part of the San Juan National Forest in south-central Western Colorado. The San Juan National Forest covers 1.8 million acres, with the supervisors office located in Durango. San Juan NF has a variety of terrain, ranging from the high desert to alpine zones. This NF was created on June 3, 1905 with a Proclamation signed by Teddy Roosevelt. Now known as the San Juan NF, which in the past has had several names including the Montezuma NF and the Durango NF. The Pagosa RD is located in Pagosa Springs on US 160 in southwest Colorado.
