The Columbine Ranger District of the San Juan National Forest covers 691,310 acres inn La Plata and San Juan Counties of southwestern Colorado. Stretching from the Piedra River to the La Plata Mountains, and north to the Red Mountain Pass. This Ranger District includes 323,625 acres of Wilderness Areas, including the Hermosa Roadless Area, which is the largest non-Wilderness roadless area in Colorado.
