Located east of Aspen and north of Independence Pass, the Hunter-Frying Pan Wilderness Area was established in 1978. This Wilderness Area includes the headwaters of the Frying Pan River, Hunter Creek, and additional headwaters for the Roaring Fork River in central Colorado.
