The Telluride area has a variety of National Forest Campgrounds that are managed from the Norwood Ranger District office. This district includes the western edge of the San Juan Mountains and the southwestern section of the Uncompahgre Plateau, with the largest portion of the District located in San Miguel County (Telluride). The Norwood Ranger District has 244 miles of trails, with only 62 miles allowing motorized traffic.
