The East Entrance trails are located just inside the Eastern Park Entrance (State Hwy 340 which is Broadway, to Monument Road to the Entrance). The Serpents Trail was built as the first road into the Park. Stretching for 1.75 miles, this trail switchbacks over 770 feet in gain, with views of No Thoroughfare Canyon.

Hikers should be aware of basic park hiking regulations: pets are not allowed on hiking trails, no vehicles or bicycles on trails, leave no trace behind and pack out all trash, view wildlife at a distance. Any back country campers must obtain a free permit at the Park Visitor Center before camping.
