Die Platt River Wilderness Area ist in South Central Wyoming und North Central Colorado. Die Wüste wird von der Medizin Bow-Routt National Forest verwaltet. Die Wyoming Bereich befindet sich in der ursprünglichen Medicine Bow National Forest entfernt, mit dem Colorado Abschnitt wird in der ursprünglichen Routt National Forest. Die beiden Wälder wurden in 1995 als Medizin Bow-Routt National Forest zusammengeführt.
