Du côté du col de la montagne rouge, le flux de la rivière, Uncompahgre 75 milles au nord et au nord-ouest pour se confluent avec la rivière Gunnison au sud du delta. Les pagayeurs saisonniers se vaumuent dans les eaux difficiles de la rivière au-dessus de la ville d’Ouray. La pêche d’Uncompahgre commence au réservoir de Ridgway, avec la meilleure pêche dans la rivière dans l’eau sous le barrage du réservoir. Dans la large vallée, Colona, la majorité de l’eau est privée avec un accès limité à la rivière.
